‘I’m back to bring home respect’ Dazlah

Musician Dazlah Kiduche at Baraka FM studio./BARAKA FM

Kenyan musician Dazlah says he is back in the music scene to win back the country’s respect.

“My goal is to bring respect back home to Kenya so that when my music plays internationally, people will know that this good music is from a Kenyan artist. I’m the only artist from Mombasa to have done more shows outside Kenya and I have performed at places where they don’t understand Swahili. But my aim has been to market our music internationally,” Dazlah said.

Speaking on Baraka FM’s Pozi 254 show, Dazlah said that during his 3-year absence he had been working on things related to music which included a benchmarking trip to Tanzania’s record label Wasafi as well as music that suits him and his new management, Shirko Media.

“Babu Tale (Tanzanian talent manager) told me to sit with WCB artists and understand what they do to push their music and what I need to add to my music and also got to know about music and sales”, he said.

He added that he wanted to be identified as a Kenyan artist and not only a coastal Kenyan musician because he feels his music is a reflection of the country, not just a region.

He pinpointed the importance of an artist in being under management saying it makes work easier because it is a team effort and everyone plays their part well for the common goal.

The ‘Kidekide’ hitmaker has been the talk of the town with issues regarding his management for a while but looks settled.

His fans who have been asking for his return also seemed happy with the new Ep he has released dubbed ‘The Future’ consisting of five songs.

Speaking about the new project he said; “I have over 50 songs that I have recorded over the period but we just chose the five songs first to mark my return”.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has come out to criticize his club in an interview claiming United’s head coach and two other key figures in the administration don’t want him in the club.

Ronaldo who hasn’t played for the English giants in their two recent fixtures said he “does not respect” Erik ten Hag and claims the Manchester United manager tried to force him out of the club in the summer.

“Not only the manager but other guys around the club (at the senior executive level). I felt betrayed. I don’t care; people should listen to the truth. Yes, I felt betrayed. I feel that some people didn’t want me here, not only this year but last season too,” said Ronaldo.

The five times Ballon d’Or winner who hasn’t played for the English giants in their two recent fixtures said he does not respect Erik ten Hag.

“I don’t have respect for Erik ten Hag because he doesn’t show respect for me, if you don’t have respect for me, I will never have any for you,” Ronaldo said.

In the interview with Piers Morgan Ronaldo said in terms of progress, nothing had changed since leaving the club in his prime twenties.

“The progress was zero. Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed. He [Ferguson] knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path they deserve to be,” he said.

Ronaldo drew criticism from his manager back in August when he left early during a friendly against Spain’s Rayo Vallecano.

In October, he refused to come on as a substitute during the closing stages of his side’s win against Tottenham Hotspur and was left out of the fixture with Chelsea as a punishment for his behavior.

Rwandan Center referee Salima Mukansanga is set to make history as the first female African referee to officiate in the men’s World Cup.

Mukansanga was among 36 center referees list, released by FIFA, to take charge in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 34-year-old was the first woman to ever referee the African Cup of Nations and is now one of the first women to officiate at the men’s World Cup.

Her first assignment was in the Group B contest between Zimbabwe and Guinea in AFCON that was held in Cameroon early this year.

Mukansanga is among three female center referees who will officiate in this year’s World Cup, the other two being Stéphanie Frappart from France and Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan.

Three other women have been selected to be assistant referees.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be the first world cup where female referees will officiate the male tournament.

Meanwhile, the number of African center referees doubled compared to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Out of the 36 center referees who will officiate in this year’s FIFA World Cup matches, six are Africans.

Bakary Papa Gassama from Gambia will make his third appearance having managed to participate in the previous two World Cup tournaments in Brazil {2014} and Russia {2018} respectively.

Algeria will be represented by Mustapha Ghorbal who is remembered for his two red cards and five yellow cards in the 2020 CAF champions league final when Zamalek faced Al Ahly in an Egyptian affair.

Despite South Africa failing to take part in this year’s tournament, Victor Gomes will represent the only country to host the major competition in Africa, the 2010 edition.

African Champions Senegal will go to Qatar with one center referee as Maguette N’Diaye was also selected to officiate this year’s competition.

The name of Janny Sikazwe from Zambia in the list has shocked many football lovers after making a dramatic decision in the African Nations’ cup this year.

Sikazwe is one of the experienced referees from Africa having officiated the FIFA Club World Cup between Spanish giants Real Madrid and Japanese club Kashima Antlers.

In 2017, Sikazwe also managed to referee the AFCON final against Cameroon and Egypt and this is the second time he officiated the World Cup having made his debut in 2018.

Other ten referees have been selected as assistant referees as well as two VAR officials.

Catholics Bishops have urged president William Ruto to start working for Kenyans following the August 9 peaceful elections.

In a communique to media houses, the clerics also urged politicians in the country to stop perennial campaign rhetoric and instead focus on service delivery.

Led by the chairman of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops Most Rev. Martin Kivuva of Mombasa Diocese said it’s time the government ensures it fulfills the promises it made to Kenyans during campaigns.

“With the elections now over and the government already constituted, it is time for the elected leaders to get down to work and deliver on the promises they made to Kenyans during the campaigns”, they stated.

The clerics who briefed the press in Mombasa on Thursday also called on the opposition to offer constructive criticism.

“Being in the opposition they should be bold enough to highlight pertinent issues affecting the country”, they said.

The Bishops want the government to ease the cost of living.

“The price of essential household items such as maize flour, cooking oil, rice, cooking gas and electricity continue to be way above the reach of ordinary Kenyans, living millions struggling to put food on the table”, said Kivuva.
