Kilifi,KENYA:Jubilee leaders in Kilifi County have attacked Governor Amason Kingi demanding to know how he has been using in excess of sh. 9 billion county annual allocation since 2013.
They told the county chief to tell the public how he has been using their money instead of attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta’s national government projects.
Kingi has in different occasions criticized the Jubilee administration saying its leaders have failed his county.
In March 2017 governor Kingi was quoted asking president Kenyatta to apologize to the residents of Kilifi on a statement he termed as lies over the total amount of allocation Kilifi County gets annually.
“I have heard him (President Uhuru Kenyatta) say Kilifi has been receiving Kshs. 9.6 billion annually, that’s a total lie and he must apologize to the people of Kilifi because I have been received Kshs. 38 billion for the past four years and not what the president reckons,” Kingi was quoted saying in Mwarakaya grounds.
In a call for accountability, Deputy President William Ruto said the County was allocated Kshs. 9.6 billion making it fourth largest recipient of County allocations.
“Your Governor (Kingi) must explain to you how he has been using Kshs. 9.6 Billion as County allocation annually,” DP. Ruto was quoted saying in February 2017 at the Karisa Maitha grounds in Kilifi town.
Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant Gideon Mung’aro said administration has failed residents as corruption scandals marred it as well as overpriced and ghost projects.
He slammed Kingi claiming to have imported milk powder from South Africa and processing it in Mombasa instead of empowering the people of Kilifi.
“The milk which lasted two weeks only was nit from Kenya, it was from South Africa in powder form and taken to Mombasa for processing,” said Mung’aro.
Mung’aro called for support on Election Day promising to empower women and youths groups with tenders and funds.
However Kilifi South Mp. Mustafa Idd blasted saying Kingi cannot abandon NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga because he got three ministries when he was a prime minister.
“Kingi cannot move out of ODM because in 2007 he was in charge of three ministries courtesy of Raila Odinga. He was given the ministry of Industrialization, East African Community and Fisheries yet he was fresh from university,” said Idd.
They were speaking in Dindiri in Chasimba ward on Thursday during a campaign rally that saw Jubilee senatorial aspirant Ken Nyale and Women representative aspirant Amina Munyazi attend.
