Milk price to reduce at 10 sh  by Thursday ,agriculture cabinet secretary

Nairobi,KENYA:The price of milk across the country is expected to go down by sh 10 whose effect  will be felt as from Thursday this week.This is according to the agriculture and fisheries minister William Bett.

In a media briefing on Wednesday  in Nairobi Agriculture and fisheries cabinet secretary Willy Bett said that the reduction of milk prices is government initiative to ensure that it is affordable to Kenyans.
He said that the prices of sugar are expected to come down in two weeks after the government subsidized the commodity.
“From tomorrow milk will be retailing sh 10 less than what it has been selling starting tomorrow .The price of sugar is now coming down at a high rate ,i want to assure Kenyans that in a week or two the price of sugar will be lower ,it has reached sh 10 ,000 per 50 KG as we speak now it is selling at sh 5,000.”He said
He said that the government has dispatched officials from various agencies including Kenya revenue authority ,CID and the police are working together to ensure that such commodities are not hoarded by rogue businessmen and government prices are implemented.
“As we speak now all arms of government including the police, KRA  and the NIS are monitoring the situation such that whatever is sold in this country is in an appropriate price.”Bett said
He urged farmers to take their maize to the National Cereal and Produce Board indicating that the government will be ready to buy the products.
