Okumbi summons 13 foreign based players for AFCON qualifiers

Kenya’s Harambee Stars first coach Stanley Okumbi has called up 13 foreign based players ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone on June 10, 2017.

Skipper Victor Wanyama who ply his trade with English Premier League club Tottenham and China based forward Michael Olunga are among those summoned by the tactician.

They are expected to link up with 26 local based players who have been at the team’s residential camp in Machakos Stadium since the beginning of the week.

The players called upon are:

 

Abud Omar (Slava Sofia, Bulgaria), Agay Anthony Akumu (Zesco, Zambia), Ayub Masika Timbe (Beijing Renhe, China), David Ochieng (New York Cosmos, USA), Erick Ouma (Kolkheti Poti, Georgia), Erick Johanna (Vasalunds IF, Sweden), Jackson Jesse Were (Zesco, Zambia), Johanna Omollo (Royal Antwerp, Belgium), Joseph Okumu (Free State Stars, South Africa), Odhiambo David Owino (Zesco, Zambia), Ogada Michael Olunga (Guizhou Zhicheng, China), Onyango Brian Mandela (Maritzburg, South Africa), Victor Wanyama (Tottenham Hotspurs, England)

Harambee Stars is in Group F alongside giants Ghana, neighbors Ethiopia and Sierra Leone in the 2019 African Cup of Nations AFCON which will be held in Cameroon.
