Farmers in Kilifi County to receive free fertilizer & maize seeds

More than 11,000 farmers in Kilifi County are expected to receive maize seeds and fertilizers for free from the county government.

This is after the county government officially launched the distribution of 66 tons of seeds and fertilizers, worth sh.100 million.

“The seeds and fertilizer will be distributed in all the 35 wards in a bid to improve food security in the area,” said Governor Mung’aro.

At the same time, Governor Mung’aro has admitted to a tractors challenge saying most of them were in poor condition and could not reach all the farmers.

However, the governor has indicated that they have put in place strategies to buy new tractors and repair some so that they can provide better services at the right time.

He also urged farmers to till their farms early enough so when the rainy season starts, they will be ready for planting.
