Nationwide NYS recruitment to be held from Feb 5th

The National Youth Service will be carrying out a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and women.

The five-day recruitment exercise will kick off on the 5th of February across the country.

“The Kenya National Youth Service wishes to announce to the general public that there will be a recruitment exercise of NYS Volunteers (male and female) throughout the Republic from Monday 5th to Friday 9th February 2024,” read the recruitment notice from NYS.

Below is the schedule for the coastal region;

Monday 5th February
Kilifi: Malindi (ASK Ground) and Kauma (DCC’s Office Jaribuni)
Kwale: Kinango (Kinango Secondary School)
Lamu: Lamu East (Faza Primary School)
Mombasa: Changamwe (Oil Refinery Ground)
Taita Taveta: Taveta (Taveta Airstrip)
Tana River: Tana Delta (Tana Delta District Headquarters- Garsen)

Tuesday 6th February
Kilifi: Ganze (Ganze Secondary School) and Chonyi (DCC’s Office Chonyi)
Kwale: Lunga Lunga (Lunga lunga Secondary School)
Mombasa: Mombasa (Mvita Sports Ground)
Taita Taveta: Wundanyi (Wundanyi Stadium)
Tana River: Tana River (DCC’s Office Hola)

Wednesday 7th February
Kilifi: Kilifi North (Kilifi Stadium) and Kaloleni (Council Ground Kaloleni)

Friday 9th February

Mombasa: Likoni (Dongo Kundu) and Nyali (Mkomani Show Ground)
Tana River: Bangale (DCC’s Office Madogo)

Prospective candidates should be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 24 years and residents of the respective sub-county of recruitment. Should also have scored a mean grade of D plain and above in KCSE.

Other conditions include being able to produce original National Identity Card and academic Certificates (and avail one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment centers).

They must have a Certificate of Good Conduct, be ready to undergo medical check-ups during and after the recruitment exercise, and also be ready to undergo rigorous physical training.

“Orphans who meet the qualification requirements as stated above will be given special preference subject to production of sufficient documentary proof such as parents’ death certificate,” read the recruitment notice from NYS.

“Persons with disabilities are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their respective sub-counties and centers provided they are able to withstand the rigorous training,” read the notice.
