Kenya into the quarter finals in the Hockey5s World Cup in Oman

Kenya has advanced into the quarter-finals in the first-ever International Hockey Federation Hockey5s World Cup 2024 which is currently taking place in Oman.

The National Men’s Hockey 5s team won their first game at the World Cup in Oman after beating New Zealand 6-1 on Sunday.

Their second match was against Trinidad & Tobago where the national team suffered a 7-2 loss to come out with zero points.

However, a 7-4 victory against Australia on the second day of the competition secured Kenya’s slot in the quarter-finals having finished on top of their pool with six points.

Hosts Oman also booked their slot in the quarter-finals after having won two and drawn in one of their matches.

Oman’s pool had Malaysia, United States, and Fiji who collected zero points in the competition.

The first two teams in all four pools will enter the quarters while the bottom two teams will play in the Challenger Trophy.

Teams advancing into the quarters are Kenya, Oman, Netherlands, Poland, Trinidad & Tobago, Malaysia, Egypt, and India.

The quarter-finals will kick off on Tuesday.

The other teams continue to fight for the Challenger Trophy as Pakistan started their campaign for the trophy with a 15-2 solid win against Jamaica.

Australia will not face Pakistan for the Challenger Trophy after beating United States 6-3.
