One person sustained was injured after a Buscar bus en route from Mombasa to Nairobi caught fire in the wee hours of Monday morning.
The 44-seater bus carrying 27 passengers caught fire at the Migingo area in Makueni County.
“Good morning to our valued customers and the wider public. We, at The Buscar EA LTD, extend our sincere apologies as we convey regrettable news concerning one of our bus (depicted below). This vehicle, en route from Mombasa to Nairobi on December 17, 2023, succumbed to a fire resulting from a mechanical malfunction a few kilometers past Mtito Andei,” read a statement from the bus company.
According to the statement, all passengers were evacuated successfully. One person was taken to the nearest medical facility after sustaining hand injuries while seeking safety.
“Unfortunately, a substantial portion of the cargo was irretrievably lost. We commit to keeping you informed as developments unfold throughout the day,” said the bus company.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by faulty wiring.
