Top Mombasa KCPE pupil working in cemetery due to lack of fees

Abdulilah Omar is yet to join High school despite leading in KCPE examinations at Kikowani primary school.

According to a relative, Mr. Kassim Omar, Abdulilah was supposed to join Dr. Krapft secondary school in Rabai Constituency.

However, Kassim, says the boy has been languishing at home due to lack of school fees.

The unnamed relative said has been helping his mother to take care of Kikowani cemetery, Mvita Constituency in Mombasa County.

The boy together with his mother have been watering graves for stipend from well-wishers.

“They take care of graves at Kikowani cemetery and are given 20 shillings from well-wisher, money that cannot cater for his education”, he added.

Facebook post seeking help for Abdulilah

Speaking to Baraka FM, the family is now seeking for help in educating their first-born child.

“He is a very bright boy who needs assistance to continue with schooling in order to break the family cycle of poverty”, he added.
