Over 500k fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Coast region

At least 532,774 adults living in the Coast region have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Health, Taita Taveta County leads in the percentage of people fully vaccinated against the virus at 36.2 percent.

Mombasa County comes in second at 30.0 percent followed by Lamu’s 20.0 percent and Kwale at 15.7 percent.

Kilifi County has the second lowest percentage of fully vaccinated adults at 14.1 percent with Tana River having the least at 10.6 percent.

Also, 13,164 have gone for their booster dose.

National COVID-19 numbers

Meanwhile, four people tested positive for the disease on Sunday bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 323,454.

The four were from a sample of 2,488 tested with the positivity rate being 0.2 percent. The national cumulative tests now stand at 3,527,127.

14 patients recovered from the disease. Total recoveries now stand at 317,685.

Out of the total recoveries, 264,670 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 53,015 were reported from various health facilities across the country.

No fatalities were reported on Sunday, therefore, total fatalities remained at 5,648.

With the recoveries and fatalities, active COVID-19 cases in the country are currently 121.

“A total of 12 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 109 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program,” read a statement from Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.

There are no COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

However, two patients are on supplemental oxygen. Both in the general wards.

Also, no COVID-19 patient is admitted in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
