Two Shimo la Tewa prison guards arrested in a bar during curfew hours have been released from police custody.

Kisauni OCPD Julius Kiragu told Baraka FM, that Harriet Mwende and Richard Mutinda were released on police bail.

Although he did not disclose the amount paid, he indicated that two will be reporting to Bamburi police station weekly until they are arraigned.

According to police report seen by Baraka, the two were arrested on Tuesday at a bar in Majaoni, Kisauni Sub County.

“The suspects will be charged for failing to comply with legal notice No. 50 of the Public Health Act issued through gazette notice No. 41 on the control of the Covid-19”said Kiragu.

He said at the moment, courts only take serious plea including murder, rape and defilement while terming the offence as a misdemeanour.
