Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has grown tired of walking and the embarrassment of using matatus ever since his cars were impounded by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Echesa has now filed an application in court to get his Range Rover back.
The ex-Sports CS says that ever since his vehicles were impounded he has been reduced to using public transport which has subjected him to embarrassment.
Through his lawyer, Bryan Khaemba, Echesa filed an application in court on Wednesday to have the sh.23 million Range Rover returned to him, saying that it is his property and he did not acquire it illegally as alleged by the DCI.
“The ‘respondents’ continued confiscation of the vehicle has subjected me to embarrassment and loss of dignity because I am now forced to use public transport, and even sometimes travel on foot,” says Echesa in his application.

“The respondents are required by law to protect my dignity. They have, however, subjected my car to vandalism and rot where it is impounded at the DCI headquarters,” he added.
Echesa also attached the sale agreement document of the vehicle in his application to prove that he is really the owner.
The agreement shows that the former CS allegedly purchased the car from Qutbi Investment Limited in Nairobi at sh.23 million.
In his application, Echesa also wants the court to instruct the DCI to give him back his two pistols arguing that as a former CS his life can be in danger, therefore, he needs the firearms to enhance his security.
