Here’s what the DCI found at Echesa’s house

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was on Monday arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, just two weeks after he was arrested over the sh. 39.5 billion fake firearms deal.

According to the DCI, the ex-cabinet secretary was on Monday arrested was due to a complaint made by a Kisumu resident of the former CS having fraudulently transferred to his possession her late husband’s three motor vehicles.

The complaint made to the DCI Public Complaints Sections claims Echesa fraudulently transferred a Passat KAY 388A, a Toyota LandCruiser KBZ009J and a Toyota Mark X KBN 242N to his possession in 2016.

The DCI carried investigations in Echesa’s Karen home and found; a KCW 289Q Toyota LandCruiser V8, a KCL 350J Mercedes Benz, a KAY 388A Volkswagen Passat, a KBP 725B Ford Ranger and a Lexus with no registration number.

The DCI also found front and rear number plates (KBS 388F). sh.507,000 was also found in the front seat of the Benz.

“All the vehicles taken for verification by NTSA officers as further investigations into the complaint’s allegations continue,” said the DCI.
