Kwale, KENYA: It never started well for the female recruits who turned out for the KDF recruitment at Jomo Kenyatta primary school in Msambweni area, Kwale county after they were shocked to find out that only one slot was set for them.
The more than 30 women who anticipated serving as servicemen on Tuesday claimed that they have always been overlooked every time they turn up for the exercise.

“This is unfair, some of us have traveled as far as Nairobi but we have not secured a chance as we only found one slot for women,” said one of the female recruits.
Senior recruiting officer Lt. Colonel J.K Nzioka assured the prospect recruits that their grievances will be forwarded to the relevant authorities for intervention.
“I have listened to your complains but as for now we only have one slot for you. A report will be compiled based on your grievances and addressed to the relevant authorities,” said Nzioka.

Other potential recruits who were denied included those that presented copies of their original certificates and other documents and those that did not meet the required age.
Last year no female was recruited on the same venue as there were no slots for them.
