Nairobi,KENYA: Government officials frustrating media companies by withholding their dues after supplying them with services have been put on notice.
Director of public prosecution Noordin Haji has ordered speedy and thorough investigations into the allegations.
Haji in a letter to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, says the accounting officers at the ministry of ICT and Government Advertising Agencies have to answer questions for the chaotic manner in which they have procured services from media.
This follows an editorial piece by Daily Nation newspaper titled “ punish officers who refuse to pay suppliers’.
The government owes media sh 2.5 billion and that the debt is piling.
“The resultant investigation file should be forwarded to my office for perusal and appropriate direction after every 21 days until the final completion of investigations’, he says in the letter.
