Nairobi,KENYA:President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended his reconciliation initiative by apologizing to NASA leaders over sharp differences which emerged between the two camps during the August 2017 general elections.
Speaking during a national prayer day in Nairobi Kenyatta apologized to opposition chief over the remarks which could have been made during the campaign period .
“We have campaigned against each we have said nasty things about each other ,we have hurt one another ,on my behalf ndugu I ask for your forgiveness .”said the president
The reconciliation ,peace in the national agenda initiative seeks to uphold forgiveness and apology .
His remarks were echoed by Odinga who said that NASA is committed to cooperate with the government in bid fight corruption menace in the country.
“Never ever again shall a Kenyan refer his fellow Kenyan on his birth right and we shall fight corruption together .”Odinga said
“On behalf of myself and team, in front of this congregation, gathered here for prayer breakfast I tender my apology.”Odinga added
On the hand deputy president William Ruto vowed to uphold the same commitment and upscale the national unity in the country.
‘Following the footsteps of these great leaders , I want to say if there is anything I did say on my behalf of our team and those behind us I tender my apology.” Ruto said
Kalonzo Musyoka who was Odinga’s running mate in 2017 tendered his apology to Jubilee administration during a heated electioneering exercise last year.
