Mombasa, KENYA: A 21-year-old woman who was shot by suspected gunmen in Likoni has succumbed to gunshot wounds inflicted on her.
The deceased identified as Mary Wamboi was on Friday shot at 12 pm at his home in Dudus Timbawani area in Likoni, by three gunmen who were riding on a motorcycle.
She died at Pandya hospital Sunday afternoon where she was admitted.
The deceased’s brother runs a number of businesses in the area including a hardware.
Police believe the suspects were after money and had walked into the woman’s home where they asked for money, but the woman resisted prompting the shooting, police source said.
The gunmen shot the woman at a close range on her thigh with an AK 47.
Likoni DCIO Henry Ndombi told Baraka FM on Monday that the woman died at Pandya hospital where she was rushed for treatment.
“We have launched investigations following the incident,” said DCIO boss.
