Kilifi, KENYA: Kilifi North Member of Parliament Gideon Mungaro has accused  ODM   for playing party politics in Kilifi County instead of focusing on development policies.

Speaking to Barakafm on Saturday the legislator said opposition leaders have offered nothing in the county for the period that they have been in power, but instead delivered false promises and play politics of division among Kilifi locals.

The legislator however added that Kilifi residents have perceived the tricks used by the opposition and are not ready to be swept away by their vain utterances.

“The ODM opposition has nothing to offer to Kilifi residents four and a half years down memory lane. They only focus on preaching politics of division but unfortunately the residents have known their tricks and will not be swept by their wave.” The vocal politician said.

He refuted claims by the ODM opposition that Kilifi county is an ODM zone and further urged them to prepare for a toothless battle come August this year.

The legislator who is vying for the Kilifi gubernatorial race with the Jubilee Party, has officially rolled out an elaborate campaign in his bid to oust Governor Amason Kingi with the battle gradually shaping up to a three-horse race pitting Mr Mung’aro, Mr Kingi and former Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi (Kadu Asili).

Mr Mung’aro, who is the Kilifi North MP, was elected on an ODM ticket but has since moved to Jubilee and a major critic of the opposition at the Coast; who has been accompanying President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in marketing Jubilee in the region.
