Nairobi, KENYA: Senate Health committee chairman Dr Wilfred Machage has  asked doctors to redraft a new Collective Bargaining Agreement as they push for their demands .

In a media briefing at parliamentary buildings on Wednesday,Dr Machage said that the current CBA is illegal as per the court ruling and the government cannot commit to implement it.

“We are ready to arbitrate between doctors, the government and Council of Governors to end the health crisis. But doctors should not base their demands on an illegal CBA and hang on it. Nobody has stopped them from drafting a new document,” Dr Machage said.

Dr Machage pleaded with the courts not to jail KMPDU officials in the anticipated Friday ruling and be a helping hand in resolving the crisis.

The committee is scheduled to grill Health CS and PS next week Tuesday, doctors officials on Wednesday and Council of Governors on Thursday over the strike.
