2023 Mombasa International Show in pictures

Last week Mombasa County was buzzing with activity with all roads leading to Nyali Constituency for the Mombasa International Show which took place from Wednesday the 6th to Sunday 10th of September.

Activity at the Mombasa Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) showgrounds kicked off on Tuesday 5th with the judging of stands where all exhibitors tried to outdo each other to be named the best in the different categories.

Kenya Seed Company and Simlaw Seeds were winners in three categories namely, most striking display, best medium trade stand and the best seed producing & marketing stand.

The first day of the show ‘Governor’s Day’ saw Mombasa Deputy Governor tour several stands accompanied by other county officials.

The first day also saw different football matches from different groups including the county assembly team (Bunge FC) at the arena.

The Mombasa International Show was officially opened by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday 7th September 2023.

The show themed ‘Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Growth’ pulled exhibitors from all sectors including government and private agencies.

Friday was Maritime Day and the guest of the day was Botswana High Commissioner to Kenya H.E Andrew Sesenyi.

Saturday’s guest was Kenya Ports Authority Captain William Ruto and Sunday was family day.

Many schools from across the country attended the show with some being part of exhibitors through the ‘Young Farmers Club’.

Learners got the chance to witness what they learn in schools through books.

Bunge FC beat Mombasa County’s football team consisting of members of the county assembly, to walk away with a trophy.

The Bunge FC team was made up of Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki, Embakasi South Member of Parliament Julius Mawathe (Captain), Central Imemti MP Moses Kirima, Runyenjes MP Eric Karemba, Magarini MP Harrison Kombe, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, and members of staff.

After a 0:0 draw in the first half, the Members of Parliament came in hot for the second half to win 2:0 against the Mombasa County team.
