The Kilifi County Government, in partnership with the MPESA Foundation and the Flying Doctors Society of Africa (FDSA), will host a surgical camp from Friday 21st to Friday 28th of April to provide life-changing treatment to women suffering from obstetric fistula.

“We are committed to ensuring that everyone in Kilifi County has access to the best possible healthcare, and this surgical camp is just one way we are working towards that goal,” said Kilifi County Governor Gideon Mung’aro.

Screening is currently ongoing across the county.

“I encourage all women who may be experiencing symptoms of obstetric fistula to come forward and get screened,” Governor Mung’aro.

Today, screening is ongoing at Vipingo Health Center and Malindi sub-county hospital.

From Friday, April 21 to Thursday, April 27, the screening will be done at the Kilifi County Referral Hospital.

The partnership has seen more than 300 women in Kilifi, Bungoma, Nyeri, Kajiado, and Tharaka Nithi receive fistula treatment.

In March last year, more than 30 women living with fistula-related complications in Kilifi County received free surgeries and medical advice in a similar week-long free Fistula camp.
