Mombasa property owners yet to pay their land rates now have until 30th April 2023 to pay their dues.

This is after the Mombasa County government extended the penalty waiver which was supposed to end on March 31st by 30 days.

While addressing the media at the County offices on Friday, Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir said the county had also extended the waiver for payment of single business permit (SBP) by 30 days.

“Today was supposed to be the last day for the waiver however, looking at the trends of the own source revenue, one thing that is clear is that the good will of the people is there,” said Governor Nassir.

The Governor reiterated on the importance of paying the land rates saying that the national government was yet to disbursement county allocations.

“If you see that things are still running smoothly, it is because of the money we collect through land rates, parking fees and SBPs. The national government has not disbursed county funds for four months now,” said the Mombasa Governor.

He said those who fail to pay their land rates and SBPs by end of April will be dealt with through legal means.
