14 people are feared dead after a Pwani University bus collided with a matatu.

The bus which was carrying students and lectures collided with a 14-seater matatu along the Naivasha-Nakuru highway.

The Pwani University students were heading to Eldoret for the Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) NATIONAL PLAYOFFS “B” 2023.

The bus is said to have been carrying more than 30 students.

A statement from Pwani University Students Association (PUSA) says learning has been suspended at the university and will resume on Monday.

“Today has been a heartbreaking day for the entire Pwani University and students fraternity across the nation. Pwani University students heading for the KUSA national games at UOE Eldoret were involved in an accident at Kayole bridge, Naivasha,” read the statement from PUSA Chair Allan Ochieng Odingo.

It says the institution is working with haste to release a detailed report on the accident.

“I urge all comrades to maintain peace and calmness even as we are going through this difficult moment,” said the PUSA Chairperson.
