Tanzanian League side Azam FC have called off their trip to the country where they were set to play a friendly match against league leaders Gor Mahia on Sunday for security purposes.

A statement issued by the Tanzanian club states that K’Ogalo invited them for a friendly match during this international break but they have decided to cancel the invitation because of the Azimio demos.

Azam has switched their plans and is playing Zanzibar’s JKU at Azam Sports Complex today (March 22, 2023).

Gor Mahia tactician John McKinstry was keen to use the friendly to keep his charges fit as they are hunting the FKF trophy this season after failing in the last three seasons.

The 19-time Champions are top of the table with 42 points, five more than KCB who are sitting in second place with 37 points.

According to Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga, there will be demonstrations every Monday and Thursday to push the government to reduce the cost of living.
