All set for 2023 Athletics: Ferdinand Omanyala says

African fastest man and Commonwealth Games 100m champion, Ferdinand Omanyala has set big goals for next year’s athletic games as he targets gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics in Hungary.

Speaking after winning the player of the Month award presented by Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) on Thursday 22nd, Omanyala hinted that he is planning for a three months training camp in Italy before the World Athletics in August 2023.

“We wanted to get a medal at the World Athletics in Eugene this year, but everything happens for a reason,” Omanyala said after receiving his award.

The Kip Keino Classic 2022 champion won a washing machine worth sh.105,000.

 He also received a second award by winning the Commonwealth title in Birmingham, England on August 3rd.

Omanyala said he will reduce the number of competitions he will be participating in 2023 though he revealed that he will participate in Diamond league in September. The former rugby star has a best record of 9.77 seconds in the 100m becoming the fastest man in Africa.
