Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia have a new main shirt sponsor.

The 19 times Kenya Premier League champions partnered with betting company BetAfriq  in a three year contract worth sh.76.5 million annually.

“We are pleased to announce Betafriq as our new shirt sponsor. We have signed a three-year deal worth KSh76.5 million per year – includes KSh5m for kitting and KSh1.5 million for players’ insurance,’’ stated a post on the clubs twitter handle.

This comes weeks after Sirkal’s previous sponsorship deal with Betsafe was terminated with the betting company citing tough economic times as one of the reasons.

“We are optimistic that the sponsor should be able to perform and deliver their part of bargain. Last sponsorship had challenges due to Covid-19 pandemic which forced our deal to be reduced by 50pc but we believe Covid-19 is going away and the sponsor should be able to perform,” Gor Mahia’s Chairperson Ambrose Rachier said during the launch in Nairobi on Tuesday.

BetAfriq, formally known as Pesa Bets Limited stated that the move is to revive interest in Kenyan football.

Betafriq Chief Executive Officer Craig Oyugi added that they aim at supporting as many local sporting initiatives as is financially and logistically possible.

K’Ogallo are also reportedly in talks with a British tactician after mutually parting ways with Head Coach Andreas Spiers.
