A family in Rabai Constituency is demanding justice following the death of a pregnant woman in a health center.

The deceased reportedly collapsed and died at Shika Adabu health center while trying to lie on the bed after the nurses ignored her pleas to be attended to.

According to a family member who spoke to Baraka FM on phone, the hospital staff did not bother to receive her only showing her where to lie.

The deceased fell on her abdomen on concrete floor and started bleeding profusely which resulted into forced labour with the baby pushed out of the womb due to the impact. Both mother and child died on the spot, she alleged.

“As she was going to the bed, she collapsed and started bleeding with the nurses just looking on. Five minutes later she was dead’, she added.

The family now want answers from the hospital administration claiming negligence while also alleging that the nurses seemed unmoved by the death of the two.

“The nurses said she would still have died even with proper attention and care”, the relative alleges.

The health center could not be reached for comment by the time of publishing the story.

However, speaking to Baraka FM on Thursday, Kilifi Health CEC Charles Dadu said investigations have been launched over the incident.
