22 suspects arrested over Mombasa crime wave

At least 22 suspects were arrested in Mombasa County on Thursday following a wave of crime incidents.

Police officers accompanied by Mwembe Tayari assistant chief together with Community Policing team attached to Central Police Station conducted patrols and crackdown on the machete wielding criminal Youth gangs in Sargoi Manyatta along Makaburini Road and Kcb Shibu Road.

The suspects were accused of being a threat to pedestrians and motorists during odd hours.

Police seized bhang, machetes, packs of condoms from the suspects.

They were all booked and detained at Central Police Station awaiting to be arraigned in court.

Meanwhile four suspects allegedly captured on cctv footage attacking and stealing from passersby in broad daylight at Old Town have been nabbed.

According to police, the four are under interrogation where they also named other suspects who police vow to arrest.
