Coast region recorded 121 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
Mombasa County recorded the highest number in the region at 88 followed by Taita Taveta’s 23 new cases.
Kilifi County recorded 8 while Kwale recorded 2 new cases.
Countrywide infections rose by 705 new cases to hit 162,098. The new infections were from a sample of 8,853 tested over the last 24 hours to bring cumulative COVID-19 tests in the country to 1,701,385.
Positivity rate is 8 percent.
711 more recoveries were recorded to push total recoveries to 110,480.
Sadly, 25 more people succumbed to the disease raising total fatalities to 2,850.
Current active cases at 48,768.
Meanwhile, 906,746 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Of this number, 528,615 are 58 years and above, 159,982 are health workers, 141,571 are teachers while 76,578 are security officers.
