Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has denied media reports claiming that ODM party leader Raila Odinga contracted COVID-19 virus during his trip to the Coast.

Speaking to the press in Mombasa on Monday, Abdulswamad urged the media to report on facts and hearsay.

“How do you even trace the genetic code of the virus that Raila got in Coast, I attended the rallies with our party leader and I have regularly tested for COVID-19 which has turned out negative,” said Abdulswamad.

He further added that Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho also tested negative before traveling to Zanzibar on Thursday.

On the COVID-19 jab, Abdulswamad said he was ready to be vaccinated as the Holy month of Ramadhan is about to start and Saudi Arabia will not allow anyone to travel into the country for religious obligations without being vaccinated.

“We as leaders agreed that the health workers should be given first priority and society should ignore reports that leaders have dodged the vaccine,” he said.
