Court of Appeal upholds death sentence for Miss Lang’ata prison Ruth Kamande

The Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence of 2016 miss Langata Women Prison beauty queen Ruth Kamande.

Kamande who was accused of stabbing her boyfriend 22 times at Buruburu estate in Sept 2015, was sentenced to death in July 2018.

During her sentence in 2018, High Court Judge Jessie Lessit said Kamande, who killed her boyfriend Farid Mohamed by stabbing him 22 times, acted in malice and that her actions proved the same.

“I want it to be a lesson to young people not to kill their partners when love goes sour,” said the judge as she handed the sentence to Ruth Kamande.

Kamande appealed the sentence which was confirmed by the Court of Appeal.
