Kilifi County assembly has been temporarily closed after a staff tested positive for COVID-19.

County speaker Jimmy Kahindi announced that the assembly will remain closed for two weeks after one of the staff tested COVID-19 positive on Tuesday.

Kahindi urged employees to remain home and work from there for the two weeks that the assembly will remain closed.

The County official has also appealed to the staff to go for the COVID-19 tests.

The County government has been carrying out fumigation of the county offices after a minister and six staff members contracted COVID-19.

Last week Mombasa County government also announced closure of its assembly after MCAs tested COVID-19 positive.
