Mombasa Chief Health Officer’s mother dies of COVID-19

Mombasa County Chief Health Officer Dr. Khadija Shikely has lost her mother.

Dr.shikely’s mother succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday morning and is set to be buried at makaburi ya Shikely.

The Chief Health Officer herself is also said to have contracted the virus and has been in Mombasa hospital where she admitted last week.

Her husband is also said to be admitted at the same hospital.

The total number of people who have succumbed to COVID-19 nationally is now at 1,027 after 14 more deaths were reported on Monday.

724 new infections were recorded to raise total infections to 56,601.

Meanwhile, 248 patients were discharged to raise national recoveries to 37,442.

Current active COVID-19 cases stand at 18,132.
