Grade 4, class 8 and form four learners to resume classes on Monday

Parents with children in grade 4, class 8 and form four should prepare their children to go back to school.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha said the learners will resume classes on Monday 12th October, 2020.

According to the education calendar released by the Ministry, the learners will have a one week holiday from the 24th of December, 2020 to 1st January 2021.

Term three for the grade four, class 8 and form four learners will then commence on 4th January to 19th March, 2021.

Class 8 and form four candidates are expected to seat for their national examinations in March through to April for the form fours.

“KCPE examinations to start on March 22, 2021 and end on March 24, 2021, KCSE exams to start on March 25, 2021 and end on April 16, 2021,” said the Ministry of Education.

KCSE exam marking will be done in a period of three weeks, from 19th April to 7th May, 2020.

Magoha said the government had already met the full costs of the national examinations for all students.

Some of the protocols schools are required to adhere to include the use of facemasks..

“Mandatory use of face masks, monitoring of the body temperature for all learners, staff and all other persons accessing schools, handwashing and observance of high levels of hygiene. Where there is no running water schools will use sanitizers,” said the Ministry of Education.

Learning in the country resumed in phases with the first batch being learners from universities and tertiary institutions, who were expected back in class on Monday, 5th October.

Learners have been studying from since President Uhuru Kenyatta gave a directive to close all learning institutions as a mitigation measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.
