Arsenal, on Wednesday, shattered Liverpool’s dream of finishing the season with a 100 points, and setting a new Premier League points record, after beating the champions 2-1.

Liverpool, who were declared champions in June after Chelsea beat second placed Manchester City, took the lead at the 20th minute with a Sadio Mane goal.

The Premier League Champions only enjoyed staying at the top for 12 minutes as a Virgil Van Dijk mistake allowed Alexandre Lacazette to equalize at the 32nd minute.

At the 44th minute, Arsenal took the lead with a Reiss Nelson goal making it 2-1.

Even with a 67 percent ball possession and 24 shots, eight being on target, Jurgen Klopp’s boys could not turn the tables on Mikel Arteta’s side who only had three shots, two being on target.

This is Arsenal’s first premier league win over Liverpool since 2015.

The win put Arsenal to position 9 on the premier league table with 53 points, 40 points below Liverpool.
