Baraka FM’s top presenter Patriciah Wayua aka Triciah scored two goals to help Coast Media FC’s women’s team win its inaugural 2024 World Press Freedom Day Cup in Mombasa.

Triciah who captained the team, scored the brace in the first half over a determined Mombasa walk movement team who pulled one back in the second half.

The seven-aside match was held on Saturday at the Nyali beach during a cleaning exercise organized by the media fraternity and other corporates including; Mombasa Walk Movement, Bandari DT Sacco, and Kenya Ports Authority.

An elated Triciah thumped the first goal in the eighth minute before netting the second from a penalty kick five minutes later after Sophia Abdulahi was brought down in the penalty box.

The scribes engaged in a 10 km walk from Kenol-Shell Mkomani-Fidel Odinga road to Nyali beach to commemorate the world press day.

Coast Media FC’s male team also lifted the inaugural cup after beating Mombasa Walk Movement male team with the same margin of 2-1.

Coast Media FC Chairperson, Francis Mtalaki of Citizen TV was also in attendance.

Triciah hosts the Mega Breakfast show every weekday from 6 AM-10 AM alongside George Otieno.
