
Four patients who have died from Coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours come from Mombasa.
In a media briefing ,cabinet administrative secretary Dr Mercy Mwangangi said that the four patients who died had underlying conditions including,Hypertension ,Ashtma and diabetes.
“I am equally saddened that today ,we have lost four patients to the disease,and all are from Mombasa.”Mwangangi said
Dr Mwangangi said that so far 127 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours out of the 3,831 total of people who were tested.
19 of them are from Mombasa.
“In Mombasa areas affected include Kisauni (7),Mvita (7),Nyali (3),Likoni (2) and Jomvu (1).”Mwangangi said
Other counties in the country affected include Nairobi (76),Busia (16),Uasin Gishu (8),Kiambu (2),Kajiado (5) and Isiolo (1).
The ministry regretted that there are some people who use unofficial routes to get out or into restricted counties especially Nairobi and Mombasa, Warning such people that they are endangering neighbouring counties with the disease.
“We have observed a worrisome trend that there are some individuals who use unofficial routes(Panya routes) to get in and out of restricted areas .”Mwangangi said.
“I want to remind such people that Nairobi and Mombasa have highest infections,sneaking out of these counties is equally sneaking the virus into other counties.”She warned.
Dr Mwangangi reiterated that the government will not tolerare such tendencies.
The ministry indicates that 17 patients were discharged bringing total number of patients who have been discharged to 438.
Mombasa continues to be adversely affected by COVID -19 mortality rates as coastal counties’ COVID 19 cases continue to surge.
