KPA worker commits suicide after neighbors accuse him of ‘ailing from COVID-19’

Police in Mombasa are investigating the death of a  Kenya Ports Authority employee whose body was found dangling on a rope days after word went round the neighborhood that he was ailing from Coronavirus.

The deceased who was aged 56 years was found inside his room  at Santana area in Changamwe Sub-county .

Changamwe Sub-county police commander Ali Ndiema said the body of Josephat Muliro was found on Friday morning.

Security officers rushed to the scene where they moved the body to the Coast Provincial General Hospital morgue pending an autopsy.

Speaking to Baraka FM,Ndiema said that they are investigating allegations that the deceased had separated with hiswife and it could be a reason why he chose to commit suicide by hanging himself.

“We have also allegations that the deceased had tested positive for Corona virus”said Ndiema.

Ndiema further revealed that samples of the deceased were taken for COVID-19 testing to ascertain whether he had virus.

The  deceased lived alone in the house where he was found hanging but his wife who stays in a separate area within Mombasa arrived at the scene moments before his body was taken to the morgue.

The health officials in conjunction with the officials from the KPA fumigated the house as the family awaits for the results of  the samples taken from their kin to be availed.

He did not leave behind suicide note.
