Nyali leading in COVID-19 infections in Mombasa as County records four new infections

Nyali Constituency has the highest number of COVID-19 infections in Mombasa County.

While giving the daily status update on COVID-19 in the country, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said Nyali Constituency was leading in the County infections with 11 cases followed by Mvita with seven cases, Kisauni seven cases and Changamwe with two cases.

Within Nyali, Bamburi has two cases while Beach Road, Mamba village, Mogadishu, Mkomani-Tamarind, Maweni-Kongowea, Twiga Road and Umoja areas have one case each.

Four more people tested positive for the virus in the County as the national tally hit 270.

“Since our last update, we have tested an additional 1,330 cases, and out of these samples, eight have tested positive for Coronavirus bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 270,” said Dr. Mwangangi.

Out of the eight, seven are Kenyans and one is a foreign national. None of the cases has a history of travel.

Three emanated from the quarantine facilities while five were picked by surveillance teams from various parts of the country.

“Four are from Mombasa, three Nairobi, one Kajiado, and all aged between 17 and 65 years old,” said the Health CAS.

Dr. Mwangangi also announced that seven other patients were discharged, taking the number of recoveries to 67.

Two more people have died from the virus.
