Modern Coast Bus Company has suspended travels to Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda due to Corornavirus.

“This is based on the directives given by the government with regard to travels to these countries. We would however like to clarify that buses plying all our routes in Kenya will continue to operate normally or as guided by the Kenyan government,” said Modern Coast Managing Director in a statement.

The bus company has put and sanitizers in all their booking offices and buses for passenger use prior to boarding the bus and during the journey.

That is among other measures put in place to mitigate the spread of the virus.

The government has encouraged people to work from home and minimize unnecessary travel to countries with reported COVID-19 cases.

Uganda is the only country in the East African Community (EAC) with zero reported cases of the virus.

Tanzania cases stand at six while Rwanda has 11 cases. Kenya had seven cases as of Thursday 19th March,2020.

“Due to the current uncertainty of (COVID-19) all passengers who had made advanced bookings will be able to open their tickets for travel which will be valid for travel for 90 days from the initial date of travel,” the statement reads.
