A man in Kibundani, Kwale County succumbed to injuries after being assaulted by a group of youth who accused him of suffering from Coronavirus.
In the incident report from Diani Police station, the deceased was attacked by a group of youth while heading home from a drinking spree.
“On 17/03/2020 at around 2100hrs it was reported by one Mr Juma Gatimu c/o Tel no. 0727367371 and a resident of Kibundani area who reported that the deceased namely George Kotini Hezron while heading home from a drinking spree and on reaching Kibundani area about 3kms west of the station met a group of youth and an argument ensued as the youth took advantage of his drunkenness and started accusing him of suffering from Corona virus,” read the report.
Police took the deceased to Msambwni sub-county hospital where he succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.
Investigations are ongoing to find the youth who disappeared after the incident.
