The government has released sh. 8 ,737,560,000 billion for the payment of Inua Jamii cash programmes.
In a press briefing in Nairobi, labour and social welfare principal secretary Nelson Marwa said that the funds will be paid to 1,092,195 beneficiaries starting Monday next week.
He said that the beneficiaries will receive sh. 8,000 to cover two payment cycles of July, August, September and October.
“In the new payment model, beneficiaries and caregivers can access their funds within six months after the money is credited to their accounts.”Marwa said
He pointed that the government has cleaned up the payroll including 15,000 members who had already died.
“We have cleaned up the payroll and are sure that only genuine members are benefiting under the scheme.”He said
The cash transfer programme captures 294,581 orphans and vulnerable children,763 ,638 older persons and 33,976 persons with severe disability.
