Mombasa, KENYA: Fraudsters have once struck again this time targeting jobseekers eyeing jobs at the Kenya Ports Authority.
According to the notice that had been circulating online, the corporation has been purportedly seeking to fill140 vacancies from young people who graduated between 2012 and 2018.
“They should have a diploma, degree, or masters in either of the following fields: Information science and technology, computer science, accounting, entrepreneurship, librarianship, records management and archiving, corporate management, statistics, economics, and Human resource” Reads part of the notice.
However, the corporation through a statement issued on Monday distanced itself from the notice terming it as fake.
“We wish to clarify that KPA has a clear recruitment policy which includes publishing of vacancies in the mainstream newspapers and on the KPA website…It should also be noted that the authority has official domain email addresses which are on our website and not the Gmail address indicated in the fake advert. further, it should be noted that all recruitment activities in KPA are devoid of any payments.”Kenya Ports Authority said in a statement.
The Authority has further urged the public to ignore the adverts that it is purporting to give 140 opportunities and to be seeking degree and diploma holders as well as report such incidents to the Authority or to the police.
This also comes a few weeks after Kenya National Bureau of Statistics cautioned members of the public against a fake census job advert that made rounds on social media as well.
