Nairobi,KENYA:Former Eastern Police commander Marcus Ochola has been appointed as the new Coast region commander.

In a media briefing in  Nairobi, Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet, said that the appointment of  Ochola is in a spate of police commanders shake up that has affected the eight regions across the country.

He said that the commanders who have been stationed have been recalled immediately and they will be assigned to other duties though they will not lose their jobs.

Boinnet said that Eunice kihiko will be regional comammnder for easten, Judy nabet central,Philip Ndolo Nairobi ,Edward Mwamburi Rift Valley ,Paul Doi North Eastern, Vincent Makokha Nyanza ,Rashid Yakub Western  among others.

On the other hand , inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett indicated that police officers who have not found accommodation in government police lines should find alternative housing next month.

He said the officers were last month were paid their house allowances as approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

“All police officers were paid housing allowances by last month, therefore those who will not have secured housing at government owned police line should find alternative.,” said Boinnet.

Officers will no longer live in government houses, leased houses, police camps or lines.

They will enter into private tenancy agreements in areas of their own volition .
