Mombasa,KENYA: 32 teachers have been suspended after the Teachers service commission linked them to having sexual relations with their students.

This is according to the TSC CEO Nancy Macharia who said a total of 33 teachers had been suspended in October, one of them being over mismanagement.

“We shall also be instituting disciplinary action on 26 teachers found to have abetted exam irregularity during the KCPE exam period,” said Nancy Macharia.

Macharia also commended teachers who had been identified to have performed beyond expectations.

“As KNEC reconciles and audits its data and reports, we might get more names of teachers whose performance surpassed expectations,” she said.

Out of the 1.6 million candidates who sat for the exam, only four had their results canceled due to irregularities.

KCPE results were released on Monday at The Star of The Sea primary school in Mombasa by Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.

The major challenge facing this year’s examinations were the high numbers of teenage pregnancies, with some of the expectant candidates being forced to sit their examinations from maternity wards.
