Nairobi, KENYA: A man in Nairobi County who has been living with his two children in an abandoned car for two years will now have a home.

Nairobi county First Lady Primrose Mbuvi Sonko came to the rescue of Ishmael Khamisi after his deplorable living conditions were highlighted by the media few days ago.

Ishmael Khamisi, who stays in Makina, Kibra Constituency, has been living inside an abandoned vehicle for two years with his two kids aged 10 and 13 years.

“I will provide a fully furnished house to Mr Khamisi, pay his rent for the next six months and also ensure his kids are back in schools,” said Primrose.

“I will talk to Governor Mike Sonko to ensure you are hired by the county when they advertise for vacancies,” added the county first lady.

Khamisi’s two children have been attending Undugu Basic Education Unit in Kibra, where pupils are offered non formal education for free.

She also promised to look for the mother of the two kids who separated with Khamisi ten years ago.

The man’s wife abandoned him a decade ago, when their last born was six months old, after Khamisi lost his job which was his only source of income.

“I will try my best to re-unite the family since Khamisi will have a stable income in the next few months, but I’m appealing to mothers not to abandon their families during difficult moments in life,” she added.
