Hospitals in the coast region have been cautioned to be on the lookout for patients coming in with gunshot wounds, following the attack on Al Shabaab militants by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in Taksile area, Lamu County, on Monday morning.
According to the security forces, some wounded militants escaped during the attack which saw 10 militants get killed by the soldiers.
Speaking in his Lamu office on Tuesday, the Linda Boni Operation Boss Joseph Kanyiri asked that any patients with gunshot wounds be reported promptly to the nearest security office for action before being treated.
“We expect them to notify us asap of people who come to them with gunshot wounds. Let them also check for suspicious pharmaceutical packages and things like bandages that could find their way out of the facilities and into the hands of the militants,”said Kanyiri.
Residents have also been cautioned on the same.
“The same goes for members of the public who shall spot people with gunshot wounds, that should be reported immediately. Gunshot wounds are distinct and its easy for one to know if one has been shot,” said Kanyiri.
