Lamu, KENYA: 10 Al Shabaab militants were on Monday morning killed in Pandanguo area, Lamu County.
The dawn attack was launched by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers in the area of Taksile, North of Pandanguo.
In a press statement from KDF spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Njuguna, the soldiers are in pursuit of other militants who fled with injuries.
“The soldiers also recovered seven AK 47 rifles and assorted ammunition,” read the statement.
Three KDF soldiers sustained injuries during the attack.
“Locals are requested to share information with the security officials in the area, as the fleeing and wounded terrorists may seek assistance from them,” also read the statement.
The mounted attack comes almost a month after 5 KDF soldiers were killed and 10 others injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack along Kinga and Sankuri road in Lamu while on their way to fetch and distribute water to residents.
