Nairobi, KENYA: The high court on Wednesday declared the Finance bill 2018 by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich Illegal.
While making the ruling, Justice Wilfrida Okwany said the CS did not follow the right procedure when he presented the bill to the parliament.
The ruling has now made unconstitutional the taxes imposed on mobile money transfers, imported vehicles and bottled water.
Justice Okwany has further said the bill should have gone through parliamentary legislative process, adding it cannot be implemented before it becomes a Finance Act.
The case was filed by Activist Okiya Omtata seeking barring of the implementation proposed in The Bill.
