Kisumu, KENYA: Kenyan Premier League reigning champions Gor Mahia maintained their unbeaten run in the league by thumping relegation threatened Sony Sugar 1-0 in the only match played on Friday ta Moi, stadium Kisumu.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half with Sony who had better chances squandering their goal scoring opportunities with former Gor Mahia forward Enock Agwanda being the main culprit as he failed to hit the target.

Gor Mahia would then shot to the lead at the 50th minute through Jacques Tuyisenge who converted a well place pass from Francis Kahata, the goal that separated the two sides after 90 minutes.

The defeat leaves Sony Sugar dangling in the drop-zone at position 17 with paltry 18 points, the same point with bottom placed Zoo FC after 20 rounds of matches.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia who have a game to play have opened a massive gap of 15 points at the top the table as they head to Tanzania for the 2018 Cecafa tournament which kicked off on Friday.
